How Hosting Activation Works: From M-Pesa Payment to cPanel in 10 Minutes
By Jumbe Nylon, Founder & CTO, SakuraHost. Updated October 15, 2026.
Short answer
After payment is confirmed, SakuraHost hosting accounts and domains are activated within about 10 minutes. Your payment is matched to the invoice, the account is created, and a welcome email arrives with your cPanel login. If it is not active after 10 minutes, send us the invoice number and payment reference and we will match it by hand.
Key takeaways
- Activation takes about 10 minutes after payment is confirmed.
- Pay the exact invoice amount from the number you used on your account for the fastest matching.
- Your welcome email has your login details. Check spam if you do not see it.
- If it takes longer, open a ticket with the invoice number, amount, date and payment reference.
Paying for hosting or a domain with M-Pesa takes a minute. Then comes the part that makes people nervous: the screen still says Pending, nothing has arrived, and you wonder whether your money disappeared. It did not, and in almost every case the process is simply running through its steps.
This guide shows each step that happens between your payment and a working account, how long each one takes, and what to do when something takes longer than it should. The same flow applies to domain registration, business email and hosting.
The five steps from payment to a live account
You order and an invoice is created
When you place an order, the system creates an invoice for the service. The order is Pending until the invoice is paid.
You pay with a mobile money or bank method
Open the invoice, choose Pay Now and follow the instructions for your method. Pay the exact invoice amount. See how to pay for hosting and domains in Tanzania.
Your payment is matched to the invoice
The system looks at the amount, the phone number or reference, and the time, and matches the payment to your invoice. When it matches, the invoice changes to Paid.
The service is created
For hosting, a cPanel account is created on the server. For a domain, it is registered with the registry. For email, the plan is activated on your domain. This normally completes within about 10 minutes of payment confirmation.
You receive the welcome email
The welcome email contains your service details and login links. A VFD tax receipt arrives separately: see VFD tax receipt.
How to speed up matching
- Pay the exact amount. A smaller or larger amount cannot be matched to one invoice automatically.
- Use the number on your account where possible. If someone else pays for you, tell us their name and number.
- Pay one invoice at a time, and keep the confirmation SMS or bank slip.
- Do not pay twice while you wait. Check with support first, to avoid a double payment.
What you will see in the client area
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending order | Order placed, waiting for payment | Pay the invoice |
| Invoice Paid | Payment matched | Wait a few minutes for the service |
| Service Active | Account is created | Use the welcome email to log in |
| Invoice Unpaid after you paid | Payment not matched yet | Open a ticket with the payment proof |
Our help article account not active after payment lists the reasons and what to send us.
Your first login
The welcome email contains your cPanel link, your username and the instructions to set your password. cPanel is the control panel where you manage files, email accounts, databases and your website. It is separate from the client area, which you use for invoices, domains and tickets. If you cannot log in, read cPanel login problems.
If you also ordered a domain, you can point it to your hosting from the client area, or follow our guide to connect your domain to your website if the site lives on another platform.
What to do if it takes longer than 10 minutes
Check the invoice status
If it says Paid, the service is being created. Refresh in a few minutes.
Check spam for the welcome email
The email may have arrived but been filtered.
Open a ticket with the details
Include the invoice number, the amount, the date and time, the payment reference and the number or account that paid. A screenshot of the SMS helps.
Call if it is urgent
For a site that must go live now, call 0758 309 999 (fastest line) or 0753 930 000 (longer wait).
Your money is not lost. Every payment is traced, and it is either matched to your invoice or refunded.
Domains, email and hosting follow the same path
A .co.tz domain is registered with the registry once the payment is confirmed, and it is active within about 10 minutes. A global domain follows the same path, but you also need to complete the ICANN email: read about the verification email. Business email is activated on your domain, and you then ask for the mailbox names you want: how to get a business email.
What can slow activation down
Most orders finish well inside ten minutes. When one does not, the cause is nearly always one of a few things. Knowing them lets you avoid them next time and tells you what to send support.
- The amount does not match the invoice. A payment that is a few shillings short or over cannot be matched automatically, and a person has to check it.
- The payer is not the account holder. A payment from a relative's or colleague's phone has no obvious link to your account, so tell us who paid.
- Several invoices paid with one payment. The system cannot tell which invoice to apply it to, so it needs a person to split it.
- A detail is missing on the order. For example, email needs a domain name, and a domain needs correct contact details.
- Bank transfers confirm more slowly than mobile money, because the bank has to clear them. Send your transfer slip to speed up matching.
A checklist to do before you pay
Check the order summary
Confirm the service, the billing period, the domain name and the quantity. A wrong quantity is the most common reason a total looks too high. See hosting prices and billing cycle.
Check your account details
Make sure your email, phone number, company name and TIN are correct, because your welcome email, invoices and VFD receipt use them.
Pay the exact amount once
Use the method that suits you, pay the exact total, and keep the confirmation SMS or slip.
Your first hour after activation
Once your account is active, the order of the next steps matters, because it keeps your site safe and your email working.
Log in to cPanel and set a strong password
Use the link in your welcome email, and store the password in a password manager.
Point your domain
If your domain is registered with us it can be pointed from the client area. If your site is on another platform, follow connect your domain to Netlify, Vercel or Blogger.
Install your website
Use the one-click WordPress installer, or upload your files with File Manager. See install WordPress.
Check SSL
A free certificate is issued automatically once the domain points to your hosting. See free SSL with AutoSSL.
Create your email accounts
Add info@ and any other business addresses: create professional email accounts.
Take a first backup
Download a backup once the site is ready: back up your website.
