Frequently asked questions.

Do I get Linux and full root access?

Yes. Every server comes with full root access over SSH and your choice of Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, Debian 12, AlmaLinux 9 or CentOS Stream 9. It is an unmanaged server: you install and look after the software, and we look after the hardware and network.

Can I run Django, Python, Node.js or Next.js with PostgreSQL?

Yes. With root access you can install Python, Gunicorn, Nginx, PostgreSQL, Redis, cron jobs and background workers, and get free HTTPS certificates from Let's Encrypt. We do not install or maintain your application stack for you.

Are backups included?

No. Backups are not part of the plan price today, so please keep your own, and keep them off the server. For a database, schedule a regular dump (for example pg_dump) and copy it elsewhere.

Can my server receive payment webhooks?

Yes. Each server has its own public IPv4 address and we do not filter inbound HTTPS, so providers such as Selcom, AzamPay and PayPal can reach you. If a provider asks you to allow-list an IP, give them your server's address.

Can I send email from my server?

Use authenticated SMTP on port 587 through a mailbox on our email hosting or a transactional mail service. Outbound port 25 is commonly restricted at data centres, so do not rely on it. We can help you set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC when your DNS is with us.

How much traffic is included?

Standard and ARM plans include 22 TB of traffic a month. Value, NVMe and Dedicated plans have unlimited traffic under a fair-use policy, with a port speed that depends on the plan (shown on each plan).

What is the difference between Dedicated, NVMe, Standard and Value?

Dedicated plans reserve CPU cores and memory for you alone, so your performance does not depend on other customers. NVMe plans run on the latest AMD EPYC processors with fast NVMe storage and higher port speeds, on shared cores. Standard plans are shared-core servers with fast NVMe disk and 22 TB of traffic. Value plans give the most memory and disk per shilling on shared cores with lower port speeds. Choose Dedicated for production databases and anything that must stay fast under load.

How do I choose a plan?

Use the finder above: enter the CPU, memory and disk you need and it lists every plan from closest match to furthest. For a database, memory matters most. If you are unsure, start with the closest match; you can move to a larger plan later.

What do extra IP addresses and migration setup cost?

Every server includes one IPv4 address. Additional IPv4 addresses are Tsh. 17,700 per month each (USD 6). Migration setup is optional and costs a one-time Tsh. 149,500: we help move your existing site or application and plan the cut-over with you. We cannot promise zero downtime. There is no VAT on these prices.

Is cPanel included?

No. cPanel licences are sold separately and you install them yourself. cPanel runs on AlmaLinux 9 or Ubuntu, not on Debian or CentOS Stream.

What is the SLA and what support do I get?

We guarantee 99.9% uptime for the server and network. Support covers the server, network and billing. It does not cover your application code or configuration.

Can I pay with M-Pesa?

Yes. We accept M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, Selcom and CRDB bank transfer. No foreign card is needed.

How fast is a server ready?

Most servers are ready within minutes of payment, and your login details are emailed to you.

What if my data must stay inside Tanzania?

Choose Tanzanian VPS, hosted in a data centre in Dar es Salaam. It is priced higher because of that. See the Tanzanian VPS page.
