Acceptable Use
Policy.
Last updated: March 31, 2026. Guidelines for responsible use of our services.
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules and guidelines for responsible use of all services provided by Sakurahost ("we", "us", "our"), including shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, web apps hosting, domain registration, business email, bulk SMS, and any related digital services.
This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of the Sakurahost Terms of Service. All customers, resellers, and end users of Sakurahost services are bound by this policy. You are responsible for ensuring that your end users, employees, and any third parties using services under your account also comply with this AUP.
Violations of this AUP may result in service suspension or termination. Sakurahost reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary to protect the integrity, performance, and security of our network and infrastructure.
2. Lawful Use
You agree to use Sakurahost services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws of the United Republic of Tanzania and any relevant international laws. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of our services, and any content you host, transmit, or distribute, complies with all applicable regulations.
You must not use our services in connection with any activity that is illegal under Tanzanian law, including but not limited to fraud, money laundering, identity theft, human trafficking, or the facilitation of any criminal enterprise.
3. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on all Sakurahost services:
Illegal content: Any content that violates Tanzanian law, including materials related to terrorism, extremism, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), incitement to violence, or content promoting illegal activities.
Intellectual property infringement: Content that infringes on the copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights of any third party. This includes pirated software, movies, music, e-books, and counterfeit goods. We comply with takedown notices from rights holders and their authorised representatives.
Phishing and fraud: Websites or content designed to deceive users into revealing personal information, financial credentials, or login details. This includes fake login pages, fraudulent e-commerce sites, and social engineering schemes.
Malware distribution: Hosting, storing, or distributing viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware, adware, rootkits, exploit kits, or any other malicious software.
Adult content (shared hosting only): Pornographic or sexually explicit material is prohibited on shared hosting servers where resources are shared with other customers. Such content may be hosted on VPS or dedicated servers (where you have a dedicated IP) subject to Tanzanian law and the additional condition that access is restricted to adults only.
Defamatory content: Content that is libellous, defamatory, or designed to harass, intimidate, or threaten individuals or groups.
4. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on all Sakurahost services:
Spam and unsolicited communications: Sending bulk unsolicited emails (spam), operating open mail relays, email address harvesting, or engaging in any activity that violates anti-spam regulations. This includes using our bulk SMS service for unsolicited messages or sending messages to recipients who have not opted in. All email and SMS campaigns must include a valid opt-out mechanism.
Hacking and unauthorised access: Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any computer system, network, server, or account, whether owned by Sakurahost, other customers, or third parties. This includes brute-force attacks, password cracking, exploitation of vulnerabilities, privilege escalation, or bypassing authentication mechanisms.
Network abuse: Port scanning, packet sniffing, IP spoofing, ARP spoofing, DNS cache poisoning, or any form of network reconnaissance or man-in-the-middle attack. Running network scanning tools (Nmap, Masscan, etc.) against external targets from our infrastructure is prohibited without explicit written authorisation from the target.
DDoS attacks: Launching, facilitating, or participating in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks from or against Sakurahost infrastructure. This includes operating booter/stresser services, hosting DDoS command-and-control infrastructure, or amplifying attack traffic.
Cryptocurrency mining: Running cryptocurrency miners (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, etc.) on shared hosting accounts. Mining is permitted on VPS and dedicated servers within your allocated resources, provided it does not impact network performance or other customers.
Resource abuse: Running processes that consume excessive CPU, RAM, I/O, or bandwidth that degrade service for other customers on shared infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to: running IRC bots, game servers, torrent clients, or proxy/VPN services on shared hosting. These activities are permitted on VPS and dedicated servers within your allocated resources.
Reselling without authorisation: Reselling Sakurahost services without a reseller account or written authorisation. If you wish to resell our services, please contact us about our reseller hosting programme.
5. Email and SMS Policy
All email sent through Sakurahost infrastructure must comply with the following:
Opt-in requirement: All recipients must have explicitly opted in to receive communications from you. Purchased, rented, or scraped email lists are strictly prohibited.
Identification: All emails must clearly identify the sender with a valid physical address or registered business name.
Unsubscribe mechanism: All commercial and marketing emails must include a functional unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests must be honoured within 48 hours.
Sending limits: Shared hosting accounts are limited to 500 outbound emails per hour. Higher limits are available on VPS and dedicated servers. Bulk SMS sending is subject to the credits and rate limits of your SMS plan.
Bounce management: You must maintain clean mailing lists and remove bounced addresses promptly. Accounts with bounce rates exceeding 5% may be temporarily rate-limited.
Transactional vs marketing: Transactional emails (order confirmations, password resets, account notifications) are exempt from the opt-in and unsubscribe requirements, but must still be sent only to the relevant user.
6. Domain Name Policy
Domain names registered through Sakurahost must not be used for:
Cybersquatting: Registering domains in bad faith to profit from the trademark or brand name of another entity.
Typosquatting: Registering misspellings of popular domains to redirect or deceive users.
Domain warehousing: Bulk registering domains solely for the purpose of resale without intent to develop.
Phishing: Using domains that impersonate legitimate businesses, banks, government agencies, or other organisations.
Domain disputes are handled according to the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) for generic TLDs and the relevant dispute resolution policy for .tz domains as specified by TZNIC.
7. Security Responsibilities
You are responsible for the security of your account, applications, and any services running under your hosting plan:
Keep all software, CMS platforms (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.), plugins, and themes updated to the latest stable versions.
Use strong, unique passwords for all accounts (cPanel, email, FTP, databases, CMS admin). Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) where available.
Remove unused applications, plugins, themes, and scripts. Deactivated but installed software remains a security risk.
Do not store sensitive data (passwords, API keys, private keys) in publicly accessible directories or unencrypted files.
If your account is compromised due to outdated software or weak credentials, Sakurahost may temporarily suspend the account to protect other customers. We will notify you and assist with remediation.
8. Resource Usage (Shared Hosting)
Shared hosting plans operate on a fair-use basis. "Unlimited" bandwidth and storage means we will not charge overage fees for normal website hosting usage, but it does not mean infinite resources. The following guidelines apply:
CPU: No single account should consistently use more than 25% of a shared server's CPU for extended periods.
RAM: Processes should not exceed 512MB of memory unless the plan specifies higher limits.
Inodes: Accounts should not exceed 250,000 inodes (files and directories). Excessive inodes impact server performance for all users.
Concurrent connections: Accounts should not maintain more than 50 simultaneous incoming connections unless specifically provisioned for high-traffic sites.
Accounts that consistently exceed fair-use limits will be contacted and offered an upgrade path to VPS or dedicated hosting. Persistent abuse after notification may result in throttling or suspension.
9. Enforcement & Penalties
Sakurahost handles AUP violations using a graduated enforcement approach:
First offence (minor): Written warning via email. You are given 24 hours to resolve the violation. Examples: minor resource overuse, misconfigured mail scripts, outdated CMS with known vulnerabilities.
Second offence or unresolved first offence: Service suspension pending resolution. You must address the violation and confirm resolution before service is restored. A record is placed on your account.
Third offence: Account termination without refund. All data will be retained for 14 days for your retrieval, after which it will be permanently deleted.
Severe violations (immediate action): The following violations result in immediate suspension or termination without prior warning: hosting CSAM or terrorism-related content; conducting DDoS attacks; distributing malware; conducting phishing operations; any activity that poses an imminent threat to the safety or security of our infrastructure or other customers.
Law enforcement cooperation: Sakurahost cooperates fully with law enforcement investigations. We may be required to preserve data, provide access logs, or disclose customer information in response to valid legal orders from Tanzanian courts or law enforcement agencies.
10. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this AUP by a Sakurahost customer, please report it to us. Reports can be submitted to:
Email: abuse@sakurahost.co.tz or admin@sakurahost.co.tz. Support ticket: billing.sakurahost.co.tz/submitticket.php (select "Abuse Report" department).
Please include as much detail as possible: the domain or IP address involved, the nature of the violation, screenshots or evidence, and the date and time of the incident. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action within 24 hours.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sakurahost, its directors, employees, and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from your violation of this AUP, your use of our services, or the actions of any third party using services under your account.
12. Modifications
Sakurahost reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our services. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before taking effect.
